With 1.8 out, I think I should go over what’s going to be happening with the servers.
The main minecraft server will be vanilla, completely. Whatever it generates, is whatever you get. If it gets wrecked up too much, I’ll put it available for download and generate a new one. Might do that monthly, I’ll put up a poll to see what people think.
Eventually, I may put up a modded server with all sorts of neat things that you can vote on. Maybe a mod-a-week thing until we reach some arbitrary limit of mods that we’ll have on the server, and then go about swapping them around.
The community-only server will stay that way. If you ask for it in Mumble and we think you’re cool, then you’ll get the address. It’s white-listed, so don’t get any funny ideas about posting the address.
Minecraft maps will be going back to the old style. The dynmap was nice, but it’s way too flaky (and requires Bukkit.) They’ll be under the old link as usual, just as they were before. I may have it set up differently, though. Probably a gallery tracking progress. (It WILL be trimmed weekly, if that’s the case.)
Nothing exciting with Garry’s Mod, aside from TomatoSoup’s new gamemode. Hopefully it’s coming along well. The main Gmod server will be cleaned up and redone eventually, though probably not for a solid month or more. Don’t worry, we’ll keep your duplicates.
I’m working on getting an IRC network set up. I’m sure a lot of people won’t use it, but in a pinch, it’s a lot easier for us to get at from our phones and such. Plus, you can IRC on just about anything. Including a toaster. Don’t ask how I know that.
More will be posted later. As an apology for not updating in so long, please take this.
